Job Title: Skills Coach – Michigan Jr. Wolverines

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Skills Coach to join our coaching staff. The Skills Coach will focus on enhancing individual player skills, including skating, stickhandling, shooting, and overall game sense. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of hockey techniques, a passion for teaching, and the ability to inspire and motivate young athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Skill Development:
    • Design and implement skill development sessions tailored to players of varying ages and skill levels.
    • Focus on improving fundamental hockey skills, such as skating, stickhandling, passing, and shooting.
    • Utilize video analysis and other tools to provide feedback and track player progress.
  2. Player Evaluation:
    • Assess players’ strengths and areas for improvement.
    • Provide individualized feedback and create personalized development plans.
    • Monitor and document player progress throughout the season.
  3. Coaching and Mentorship:
    • Work closely with head coaches to integrate skill development into team practices.
    • Mentor players and provide guidance on and off the ice.
    • Foster a positive and encouraging environment that promotes growth and learning.
  4. Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other coaches to ensure a cohesive approach to player development.
    • Participate in coaching meetings and contribute to the overall coaching strategy.
    • Engage with parents and guardians to communicate player progress and development goals.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a hockey skills coach or similar role.
  • Deep understanding of hockey techniques and training methods.

  • Previous playing experience at a competitive level is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Management:
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hockey club.
    • Implement strategies to grow the program and enhance player development.
    • Ensure compliance with league regulations and organizational policies.
  2. Player and Team Development:
    • Work closely with coaches to develop and implement effective training programs.
    • Coordinate tryouts, practices, and games.
    • Monitor player progress and provide support as needed.
  3. Staff Management:
    • Recruit, train, and manage coaching and support staff.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations.
  4. Community Engagement:
